They are as follows (this message is on the school’s website, where updates will also be posted during emergencies):
Overnight change in conditions causing school closure–
The Head will make a risk assessment of the situation and if the school is to be closed the Head will make a decision with the Chair of Governors approval. Parents will then be contacted as soon as possible by the Parentmail text service to prevent unnecessary journeys. During extreme weather situations, delay your journey until you know the school’s position.
Listen to BBC Radio Cornwall (95.2fm/103.9fm), Pirate FM (102.8fm /102.2fm), Atlantic FM (105 -107fm) for updates on the situation. The stations will also broadcast the list of school closures on a regular basis.
There is also a school closures webpage on the Cornwall CC website - http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=2295
Daytime change in conditions causing early closure of the school –
The Head will make a risk assessment of the situation and if the school is to be closed the Head will make the decision with the Chair of Governors approval. Parents will be contacted by Parentmail as soon as possible so that they can make arrangements for the collection of their children. No child will be sent home until those arrangements have been made. A child may go to a relative/friend’s home as long as the parent has given permission. It is vital that parents keep their contact numbers up to date with the school secretary. If you know that conditions may make a closure a possibility, ensure that mobiles are on and that you are contactable. If in doubt contact the school yourself, but be aware that the line will be very busy.
